The phrase "blood, toil, tears and sweat" was first uttered on 2. July 1849 by Giuseppe Garibaldi when rallying his revolutionary forces in Rome. However, the phrase became well known after a speech given by Winston Churchill to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the UK on 13. May 1940. "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat". From Sep 2010 to Apr/May 2011 I will try to bike from San Francisco to Santiago. I know this bicycle journey will offer me toil, sweat and joy.

Mission trip to Piura
I joined 4-5 days mission trip with my friend and his church to Piura, north in Peru. Very good and special trip for me. I got also opportunity to preach little bit, one time in the bus, one time to the youth of young students and for the people I joined with. I had a good time and got lot of new friends.
As a missionary you have to be thankful for where ever you gonna sleep and take a shower. I slept on this bed with 2 others, took shower with putting water over me with a cup and did my "short" and "long call" on this toilet among the chickens, turkeys and their poohs. During the night I saw some mice running here and there. A good experience, felt I was a typical missionary in Africa, but I am glad and thankful I live and have better standard in Norway. I am also glad that I stopped to bike, if not I wouldn´t get the opportunity to experience this.
My "amigo" in Huaycan
The standard to this family is far away what we are used to in Norway. They don´t have hot water and live in a house looks like a garage. One day it started to rain, and the rain through the roof and hit us when we was playing cards. The neighborhood is a typically Peruian slum, bad quality on everything, lot of dust, garbage and dogs. But the family is very nice and friendly.
Christmas in Quito
In Ecuador they start to celebrate christmas around 23:00. Normally the whole family come together and eat turkey. After the dinner, they just give the gifts to the people they have gifts to, not for everyone and normally you just get totally 2-3 gifts. After a while you eat cake and after that you just hang around and spend a good time with your family. Around 04:00-05:00 you go home. And for someone who like to drink alcohol, the "party" just has started. Of course it was one uncle who got very drunk.
