The phrase "blood, toil, tears and sweat" was first uttered on 2. July 1849 by Giuseppe Garibaldi when rallying his revolutionary forces in Rome.
However, the phrase became well known after a speech given by Winston Churchill to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the UK on 13. May 1940.
"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat".
From Sep 2010 to Apr/May 2011 I will try to bike from San Francisco to Santiago.
I know this bicycle journey will offer me toil, sweat and joy.

hammock
One night I borrowed this hammock on a bungalow close to the beach. It was cool and nice, but I have had a better night. Not so comfortable, because I normally sleep on my stomach side. Very difficult to do in a small hammock.My plan was to sleep only in my sleeping bag on the beach, but because lot of crabs walking on the sand during the night and a ugly dirty dog after me all the time I decided to sleep in the hammock.
