Boys!! learn from the locals

Maybe you have to learn something from this little man.
Pick flowers and give it to your girlfriend.

Granada in Nicaragua

Granada is historically one of Nicaragua's most important cities both economically and politically. It is situated on the northwestern shore of Lake Nicaragua. It was founded by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba on December 8, 1524. It has a rich colonial heritage, seen in its architecture and layout. Granada is commonly nicknamed the Gran Sultana del Gran Lago(Great Sultan of the Great Lake).

Granada, Nicaragua was historically the sister capital in Central America to Antigua, Guatemala. During the colonial period, Granada maintained a flourishing level of commerce with ports on the Atlantic Ocean, through Lake Nicaragua (a.k.a. Cocibolca) and the San Juan River.

The city has been witness and victim to many of the battles with and invasions from English,French and Dutch pirates trying to take control of Nicaragua.

"Tired" truck in Nicaragua

I guess this truck was overloaded or very bad quality.

Volcano Momotombo

Another volcano in Nicaragua.
From two different site.

My arms looks very skinny on this picture, and it´s only because the t-shirt is to big, haha!
I have lost some kilos on this trip, something I definitively don´t need. My appetite is there, but sometimes is not easy to find food you actually want to eat, and because of the heat and you mostly bike during the day you drink more than you eat.
But I have to change that, if not my shorts will soon fall off.

Mom! Can we have armadillo for christmas dinner? I don´t want pinnekjøtt.

They eat armadillo in Nicaragua.
This one was for sale for 250 Cordobas and it´s about 75NOK.
Yammi!
Not!

Mom! what shall we have for dinner today?

In El Salvador and Honduras I have seen many kids holding this kind of ugly reptile in the tale. And also other different types.
Kids like to catch them and then sell them along the road. I think it is a delicacy in this area.
I would be really surprised to see a norwegian housewife kill and prepare this in a norwegian kitchen for dinner.
I didn´t take any picture of the kids when they are holding this, the reason is I have been so tired to stop and get all the attention, and to be honest one time the kids scared me when they almost throw a 2 meter long reptile on me. I think they maybe thought I would hold it. And the answer is absolutely not.

Guatemala

I am now in Nicaragua. Biked through Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras around 900km on 7 days. So I am right now more than extremely tired, that means extremely extremely tired, haha!

This two small "tops" is volcanoes, Volcano de Fuego 3760 meters high and Volcano de Agua 3765 meters high.
It is many of them in Central America.

The night at the police station

I came so late after the dark to this little town. I was really tired and I couldn´t see any hotel or any good places to camp. So I just went to the police station and asked some police officers to sleep outside. No problemo amigo!
Hope you can see the police car behind, protecting the gas station and my tent during the night.

Juan 3,16

"For such a high level has God loved world, that he gave his son, the only begotten, for that every one that has faith in him, not shall perish, but have eternal life."

Where is the rest of the road?

Because of a hurricane and lot of rain the night before, the road stopped here.
So I have to carry my belongings and the bike over the river that destroyed the road.
This is from end of the Mexico.

dead meat

I see lot of dead animal along the road. Animals not so smashed like these two, but also animals so smashed that I can´t see what animal it is. It really look bad and smells bad too.
This dog was just hit by a car just before I came. During the night a truck will drive over it, because the driver can´t see the dog on the road when is dark. Then you can imagine how this will look after and smell the day after when the sun is coming.
The snake looked like it was alive, and it had just eaten something because it was so big in the middle. Really nasty! I am so glad I am not camping so much out in the wilderness.
I bike around 80-100km every day and see around 10-15 dead animals. You multiple that with around 5100km I have biked so far. That means lot of dead meat.

Me and Obama in Mexico

First artwork I have seen along the road in Central America. This is from a bus stop.
Perestroika is a russian word and it means: "restructuring", referring to the restructuring of the Soviet political and economic system.
Done by former president Mikhail Gorbachev. I guess this artist mean Obama will do the same.
