Toil, sweat and joy

The phrase "blood, toil, tears and sweat" was first uttered on 2. July 1849 by Giuseppe Garibaldi when rallying his revolutionary forces in Rome. However, the phrase became well known after a speech given by Winston Churchill to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the UK on 13. May 1940. "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat". From Sep 2010 to Apr/May 2011 I will try to bike from San Francisco to Santiago. I know this bicycle journey will offer me toil, sweat and joy.

The night at the police station

I came so late after the dark to this little town. I was really tired and I couldn´t see any hotel or any good places to camp. So I just went to the police station and asked some police officers to sleep outside. No problemo amigo!

Hope you can see the police car behind, protecting the gas station and my tent during the night.
